Nine Hinksey crews entered the Junior Sculling Regatta at Dorney Lake on Sunday 14th May for their last race before National Schools' Regatta on 26th - 28th May.
A time trial in the morning determined which crews would progress to the finals, which were split into 'A' and 'B' races.
Two Hinksey crews progressed to the A finals in their categories: the J16.2x (Rafe Stanford Meisl and Andrew Clark), and the J14.2x (Nick Adam and Jacob Taylor). The J16.2x placed third, winning a bronze medal and achieving the highest placing of the day for Hinksey. The J14.2x missed out on a bronze by ten seconds against three strong crews from Bristol, St. Ives and Molesey.
Stanley Cannons in the J17.1x progressed to the B final, which he went on to win in a close race by just under two seconds. Both WJ15.2x crews raced in the B final, with Jojo Blyth and Helene Rittscher placing second, two seconds behind the winner and followed closely by Alegria Repila Smith and Mae Willoughby who crossed the finish line 0.54 seconds later. The J15.1x (Archie Licudi), as well as the WJ14.4x+ (Daisy O'Keefe, Grace Hawksworth-Pratten, Tessa Mills and Rebecca Marshall, coxed by Hannah Wood) also progressed through to the B final, finishing sixth against some strong competition.
