Gloucester Spring Head

On Sunday 5th March crews from the J13, J14, J15 and senior squads travelled to Gloucester for one of our last Head races on the Gloucester-Sharpness canal. All of the athletes coped well with wind and, at times, driving rain as they raced down the course: 5k for the older athletes and 1750m for the younger crews.

It proved to be a successful day, with six wins for Hinksey crews:

WJ13 4x+: Bea Myers, Alice Purvor, Alice Channon, Elizabeth Ledgard-Hoile, and Meara James
WJ14 2x: Elizabeth Ledgard-Hoile and Meara James
WJ15 2x: Jojo Blyth and Mae Willoughby
J18 4x: Stanley Cannons, Rafe Stanford-Meisl, Sam Carroll, and Hugo Binnian
J18 4+: Joe Elwig, Ewart Rees, Will Wakefield, Andrew Clark, coxed by Sam Farhan
J18 2x: David Angiolini and Rafe Stanford Meisl

Congratulations also to the WJ13 4x+ made up of Ruth Macgregor, Rosie Megaw, Georgia Jackson Jessel, Leonie Rittscher, and Tasha Cooper - who came a close 2nd to the other Hinksey WJ13 quad!

Our next races, Schools' Head and the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head, take place in London and at Dorney respectively, providing the culmination of the winter season before we head into (hopefully sunny) side-by-side racing at the summer regattas!
