Fourteen Hinksey crews raced at Avon County Spring Head on Saturday 24th February: a cold but sunny day with clear and calm conditions, all crews raced hard and performed well in their events.

Six of our crews finished in first place in their categories across the three divisions. The J18 4x- (Stan, Will, Rafe and Andrew) were the fastest crew of the day overall, while the WJ16s, racing up an age category in the WJ17 4x- (Jojo, Phoebe, Mae and Harry) placed first in their event as well as taking fastest women's quad of the day. We also had wins in the J18 1x (Will), J17 2x (Rafe and Drew - fastest 2x of the day), WJ16 2x (Jojo and Mae), and WJ15 2x (Bea and Elizabeth - both WJ14s). Well done also to the WJ14 4x+ (Alice C., Bea, Alice P., Alice G. and Annaliese) who came a very close 2nd (0.5 seconds!) in the WJ15 4x+ category.

We now move into the final weeks of preparation before our last Head races of the season, Schools Head (12th March) and the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head (13th March).
