Friends of Hinksey

The Friends of Hinksey Sculling School (FHSS) was established in early 2012 to support Hinksey Sculling School in their function of providing children in the Oxfordshire community with the opportunity to row.

We have two core functions:

1) To organise events throughout the year to raise funds to ensure all children from Oxfordshire have a chance to row;

2) To promote social events for the club, for the benefit of current/past rowers and their parents/club supporters.

Over the past year, FHSS has organised a jumble sale, a fish ‘n chip quiz night, the sale of beanie hats, and have established The Friends of Hinksey Sculling School 200 Club.

Who can be a Friend of Hinksey Sculling School?

All rowers and their parents automatically become a FHSS member when they join the club. Furthermore, grandparents, alumni and supporters of the ambition and role of Hinksey Sculling School can apply to be a “Friend”. As a Friend, you are able to join the social events organised by FHSS, including the right to attend the quarterly FHSS meetings (held to plan future events, and typically convened in the convivial environment of a pub!).

Please feel free to contact the FHSS committee at any time (details below).  Ideas and suggestions on potential fundraising or social events are always welcome! The dates for the quarterly FHSS meetings are included in the Hinksey Calendar which is printed in this pack as well as in the member’s area on the website. All Friends are welcome to attend these meetings.
