Happy New Year from Hinksey

This season so far, aside from our victories at competitions such as Hinksey run 'SEIRC' and Monmouth Head, we also had success from the Big Give Christmas Challenge raising significant money for the club.
SEIRC Success...
6th December 2012
Hinksey had a very successful day winning 12 medals in individual events, 7 medals in the team relays and J16 William New set a new SEIRC record and PB for 2k with a time of 6:33.6. Hinksey also won the Victor Ludorum for the first time.
Flooding at the River

After the massive volume of rain we've been experiencing over the past week or so, the rivers in Oxfordshire are obviously abnormally high. This morning Amelia, Tom, Mandy and Freddie went to the river to move some boats from the bottom racks to higher ground to help protect them from reported flood water.

“Hinksey Sculling School – the fastest quad in Oxford” was what we read into the email entitled “Crew Rejected – Lack of opposition” in the build up to Oxford City Royal Regatta 2012. Word had clearly spread by the airwaves that we had entered and that we were fast.
Club Physio Jenny Quested

Joining our team this summer is physio Jenny Quested. Jenny, also a coach at Hinksey, has offered a physiotherapy service for the club at discounted rates for athletes.
MIMIZAN CAMP 2012

In April 2012 Hinksey Sculling School, Oxford, spent a week on training camp in Mimizan, France.
Indoor Rowing at Summer Fields School

Hinksey Sculling School keeps on extending its Outreach Programme to the community. In the last few months, boys aged from 11 to 13 at Summer Fields School in Oxford have enjoyed Indoor Rowing instruction and activity delivered by Amelia Wright, Hinksey’s Rowing Manager and coaches from her team.

Hinksey has marked another milestone in its 20 year history by finally honouring its silent workforce...the boats. Our singles, doubles, and quads have been the workhorse of our Godstow operation for many years but many of them have remained completely anonymous for years.
J13 SQUAD DAY OUT

Hinksey may be famous for rowing but rowing isn’t all we do, as our J13 squad proved in November when they took a break from the boats to join together for an exciting outdoor activity day.
