About Hinksey Sculling School

If this is your introduction to Hinksey Sculling School, and perhaps your first step into the sport of Rowing, then you are in the right place.   Hinksey provides training for athletes wishing to learn how to scull and row on the water and you can learn the basics at a pace that suits you. This can lead to competiton or simply relaxed recreation.

There is financial help available for anyone who meets the necessary criteria so don't let that be something that stops you coming along.

Basic sculling training takes place on Hinksey Lake in Hinksey Park and advanced training takes place at the Boathouse of St Edwards School at Godstow.  Before allowing "would-be" athletes onto the water, we conduct a Capsize and Immersion Drill in a swimming pool at Radley College Sports Centre.  The Hinksey club policy is to provide all athletes with the skill of single sculling. It is Hinksey's view that until the athlete has learned to single scull his/her ability to reach his/her full potential in the sport is severely diminished.

The Club runs taster sessions once you have shown your ability in the swimming test so why not give it a try. Click on "How to Join" above and off we go!!
